NEYM Clerking Workshop

New England Yearly Meeting Clerking Workshop

Saturday January 25, 2014

Beacon Hill Friends House, Boston, MA

Join Friends to develop skills in Quaker decision-making processes in our Meetings and committees. We are offering two workshops to help community members gain more knowledge and skills. These workshops are open to all. We especially encourage people who are currently clerks of meetings, committees or other groups, as well people would like to become more active participants or leaders themselves. The workshops will be led by Jacqueline Stillwell, NEYM presiding clerk, and Holly Baldwin, clerk of the Permanent Board of New England Yearly Meeting.

Introduction to Clerking/Friends Decision Making 9:00-1:30

In the morning session, we will focus on key components of Friends decision making such as agenda, clerk, recording clerk, etc. This will be a good workshop for people with little to no experience clerking. You are encouraged to participate in the afternoon workshop as well if you are able.

Delving deeper into Clerking/Friends Decision Making 12:30-3:30

In the afternoon session, participants will gain experience facilitating Friends decision making. Using scenarios you will have the opportunity to serve in various roles as well as problem solve challenges that arise in this process. The afternoon workshop is designed for people who have already had some introduction to clerking and Friends decision-making.

If you would like to attend either or both of these workshops please register online at http://tinyurl.com/clerkwkshp. Questions about the workshop may be directed to Holly Baldwin, pbclerk@neym.org

This workshop is sponsored by the Coordinating and Advisory committee of NEYM, and hosted at the Beacon Hill Friends House.
