We hope you’ll join us May 7 at 7:30 pm for an author chat — and syrup tasting! — with part-time BHFH resident Douglas Whynott, author of “The Sugar Season: A Year in the Life of Maple Syrup, and One Family’s Quest for the Sweetest Harvest.”

The book just hit the Boston Globe’s local best-seller list this past weekend and reflects the author’s mastery of finding compelling stories at the heart of an industry.

A resident of Langdon, N.H., Whynott commutes to Boston and spends the night at Beacon Hill Friends House when teaching his writing classes at Emerson.

Copies of “The Sugar Season” will be available for purchase and signing at the May 7 gathering on Chestnut Street. There’s no charge, but please let us know if you might join us on the event page here (we want to be sure Doug brings enough enough syrup):
