Turning Plans Into Action

On July 23rd Beacon Hill Friends House was enthused to mark the kickoff of its Quaker Action and Quaker Learning Committees. This officially marks movement toward achieving the goals Beacon Hill Friends House set out in its Strategic Plan. Approximately 30 interested Friends and non-Friends met together to briefly worship in silence, make introductions, and recognize the momentous contextual significance of the event. Members at the initial meeting ranged from involvement in Cambridge Friends Meeting, Beacon Hill Friends Meeting, residents of Beacon Hill Friends House, and beyond.

IMG_1027After introductions Nils Klinkenberg, the newly-seated Executive Director of Beacon Hill Friends House, set out some broad, initial goals for both committees: to consider actions/approaches relevant to the committees and to schedule the committee’s next meeting. After establishing these guidelines, the committees met separately to enjoy spirit-led and fruitful conversations. Beacon Hill Friends House wishes to give warmest thanks and appreciation to Jonathan Vogel-Borne and Lucy Meadows for acting as stand-in clerks of the Quaker Action and Quaker Learning committees, respectively. We also wish to express our thanks to everyone who participated in this momentous occasion.

We are excited by the enthusiastic show of support from all participants, and we look forward to how these committees will grow and uphold the mission of the House.
