Opening Doors with Love

May 11, 2021 | by Vickie Wu, BHFH Kitchen Manager

Dear Friends,

Vickie Wu here — Jen’s colleague! (I’m the Resident Chef/Kitchen Manager here at BHFH, for those who don’t know me yet.)

I’ve had the song “Love is an Open Door” from the movie “Frozen” stuck in my head for the past few weeks.

I think it’s because, as silly and nonsensical as the song is, there’s something there to really think about. I’m not so naïve to believe that love conquers all, or that it fixes all things.

And yet, I really believe in the power of compassion and love. I really believe that many hurts, resentments, and other hard feelings can be defused or headed off entirely if we all just remember to pause, take a breath, and approach with empathy, compassion, and love.

But first, you have to remember to treat yourself with empathy, compassion, and love. If we can all remember to first love ourselves, and then spread that love outward to others, we all end up healthier and more closely connected. It’s not always easy — it takes work to see past frustration and exhaustion to what’s really underneath, but it is so rewarding when you finally break through.

So, what doors will love open for you today?

In love and open doors,
Vickie
