A Quaker Woman’s Witness in Palestine with Carole Rein
Carole Rein returned from a trip to Israel and Palestine in January with a strong awareness of the inequities there and a calling to share her witness with others. She will share stories and images from her visits with the U.N. Humanitarian Council, refugees, Ramallah Friends School, and more, and discuss her perspective as an American Quaker committed to challenging white supremacy. A discussion will follow.
Carole was raised a Catholic, practiced meditation for 20 years, has been a Quaker for about 30, and an activist for almost 50. She worked in the corporate world as an IT manager until the age of 60, when she became a special ed teacher. In January of 2018, she had a heart attack during a tap dancing class, followed by triple bypass surgery. She is back to tap dancing and feels especially grateful to be alive. Now retired, she visited Israel and Palestine during January 2019, returning compelled to share her surprising and moving experiences with others. Carole is a member of North Shore Friends Meeting.
