MIDWEEK June 3, 2020: Evan McManamy | Seekers After Embodied Truth
Quakers have a history of holding worship on First Day (Sunday) and Midweek (Wednesday).
Here at the Friends House, we are interested in experimenting with what midweek worship might look like. So we came up with MIDWEEK, a one-hour facilitated spiritual practice and reflection with a Quaker flavor on Wednesday evenings on Zoom. (From 7:30 – 8:30 PM, ET)
This event is free and open to the public. Invite your communities!
How do we find Truth in our bodies? How do we find Light? How can all of our “Holding in the Light” flow from that seeking and that finding?
Evan will share a practice from his experience in trauma therapy bodywork. There will be space for us to share with each other in whatever ways our technologies allow.
Evan L McManamy LMT is a licensed massage therapist in a trauma therapy bodywork practice. One foundation of his work is a mindfulness-based approach to embodied trauma therapy that is currently being studied by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) at NIH. He works in concert with other healthcare providers in Rhode Island: his work forms part of a multidimensional approach in addressing the psychological and embodied effects of trauma and chronic pain.
One of Evan’s current projects is cartwheelRI: a donation-based grocery delivery nonprofit. See www.cartwheelRI.org for more information.
