Dear Friends,

Beacon Hill Friends House is small but mighty. For 67 years, we’ve been building community in the heart of Downtown Boston — and we’re just getting started.

Our historic building at 6 & 8 Chestnut Street is more than a structure; it’s a home for transformation. It hosts a vibrant residential community, a Quaker Meeting, public events, and countless opportunities for connection. It’s a space where people lean into their values, engage in meaningful work, and find hope and renewal.

This past year, we welcomed more than 70 people across the eight events in our “Making Queer Quaker History” series, supported nine residents with financial assistance, and provided space for 16 community organizations to host over 100 concerts, classes, and organizing meetings. We also invested in critical building repairs to ensure our home at 6 & 8 Chestnut Street continues to flourish as a hub for connection and transformation — including major rehabilitation of our rear ell roof deck, a plan for an upgraded fire system, and a Vision Plan for our space to increase accessibility and better suit our needs.

In times like these, spaces like BHFH are more essential than ever — places where organizers and activists gather, where individuals and communities discern their purpose, and where hope shines amid the chaos of the world.

This Giving Tuesday, I invite you to invest in this work. Your gift ensures that Beacon Hill Friends House remains a welcoming and transformative resource for all who pass through its doors.

Here are three ways you can support us today:

  1. Make a donation. Help us meet our $60,000 goal for the year. So far, we’ve raised $20,000! Every gift, no matter the size, helps sustain our unique community space, events, and residential community.
  2. Attend an upcoming event. Join us for MIDWEEK: Experiments in Faithfulness or Living Into Your Call: A Vocational Discernment Workshop for Older Adults (55+) in December. Your presence enriches our community.
  3. Share your gifts and skills. Do you have a talent or resource to share? We’d love to hear from you.

Your support today ensures that BHFH continues to be a beacon of transformation, community, and possibility. Thank you for being part of our story.

In gratitude,

Jen Newman
